August saw Green Fountain Farm Resort being named one of the Eastern Cape government’s preferred suppliers. This coup is a great feather in the cap for Rob Greyling, owner of the resort that lies six kilometres outside Port Alfred.
“We’ve already been graded as a three-star lodge through the South African Tourism Association,” Rob explains, “so people know we offer a high standard of accommodation.”
The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature has a 10-page document that companies have to complete in order to be considered as preferred suppliers. In March, Rob submitted this along with a bundle of required documentation such as company registration documents and the resort’s VAT certificate and tax clearance certificates. “We had to prove that we are BEE compliant and that all our tax payments with SARS are up-to-date,” he says of the process. “By being accepted as a preferred supplier of the Eastern Cape government, we have shown that we are compliant with all the requirements of government.”
Green Fountain Farm resort offers 94 beds and can hold conferences for up to 250 delegates in various centres on its vast property. “Conferencing is the lifeline of our business,” says Rob, adding that the restaurant on the property makes such events even more convenient and enjoyable for delegates.
The Ngqushwa Municipality already had a taste of what Green Fountain Farm Resort can offer when it hosted a conference at the venue towards the end of August.
“The organisers were very impressed with our facilities,” says Rob. “They loved that there are no distractions because of the fact that we’re not based in the middle of town. Delegates can’t just go off shopping, and are therefore sure to attend each session.”
Green Fountain Farm Resort is the ideal venue for teambuilding, where attendees can participate in a wide variety of activities, including canoeing and quadbiking. Government-backed NGOs are now also able to work with the resort thanks to its governmental thumbs-up. Rob and his team recently welcomed 200 members from adventure sports teams around the Eastern Cape, as part of their warm-up for the national championships. “It’s a great place to train, where teams have a large amount of space to run and cycle,” he remarks.
As a preferred supplier to the local government, Green Fountain Farm Resort looks forward to hosting even more important functions on its grounds, catering to every occasion according to its unique needs.
